Manual Instructor
This manual is intended for the instructor who is responsible for the course of the training and the achievement of the stated learning objectives. This guide describes the following topics:
Instructor role prior to training
Preparing and supplying a list with the data of the participants and a list of desired scenarios for the training with SUIT.
Instructor role during training
The two options the instructor has to follow the training.
Instructor role after training
Evaluating the training using the After Action Review.
Instructor role prior to training
The instructor is responsible for preparing the lesson plan. Part of the lesson plan is collecting the data from the players and preparing the scenarios. In order to ensure that the training runs as smoothly as possible, it is advisable to provide this information to the operator before the start of the training. The operator can prepare the training with this information.
Participants
The following participant data should be collected on this form:
- Name
- Height (cm)
- Arm span(cm)
Scenarios
For a smooth course of the training, it is advisable to provide the operator with a list of scenarios. These can be existing scenarios. In addition, new environments and new scenarios can be built as desired on the Scenario Development Station (SDS).
Instructor role during training
The instructor has two options for performing his duties:
Instructor role alongside the training field
From the side of the training field, the instructor has more options available for customizing a scenario. The duties of the instructor – on the side of the field – consist of:
- Instructing the operator behind the EXCON to adjust the scenario during a training. The instructor can adjust the difficulty of the scenario in this way. The possible adjustments that the instructor can pass on to the operator can be found in Operator Actions (during scenario).
- Communicating with the participants over the radio channels using a headset.
- Watching the training from different angles during the During Action View on the Spectator.
Instructor role in the training field
The instructor can experience the actions up close. He can be both visible and invisible to the other participants, and he can communicate with the participants through the radio channels.
He can also take on the role of a Non-Player Character (NPC).
In this case, the instructor can influence the scenario via the rotary knob on the smart vest. The instructor has access to two menus in the Smartvest: the rotary menu and the radial menu. Both menus are displayed in the HMD. The possible actions can be found in Actions instructor in Smartvest.
Instructor role after training
After the training, the instructor can evaluate the training using the After Action Review on the Spectator.
